SYNOPSIS OF PLAY

Having spent the first twenty-five years of his life trapped behind the walls of Notre Dame’s Cathedral, the deformed Quasimodo makes his escape to join Paris’ famous Festival of Fools. The streets are filled with artists, actors, merchants and the dazzling gypsy dancer Esmeralda. With one sway she can capture the eye of anyone. What seems to be a joyous event soon turns perilous when Quasimodo is discovered by his controlling caretaker, Archdeacon Frollo. In his unending rage, Frollo orders the Hunchback to the cathedral permanently and seeks the capture of the beguiling Esmeralda. Led by their hearts, Quasimodo and the charismatic poet Pierre Gringoire will stop at nothing to bring Esmeralda to safety; but Frollo matches their efforts in unkindness. Fate must take a side. Who will win?
